Proverbs as Affirmations; a Thing of Beauty

One of the verses that I have been pondering about from time to time is from Proverbs 25:4. It talks about - take the impurities out of silver and there shall be a thing of beauty. This is paraphrased, as this statement is said in a variety of ways in various Bibles.

Anyway, that is the gist. And that is what I ended up doing when I translated Proverbs into affirmations. I removed the fear based statements and threats, and worded the remaining information into positive statements. Statements that could be easily understood, and understood with kindness and love.

That is one of the first things that I was taught about God, as a young child; that God was love.

When I was a child in children's church, I remember singing songs about planting joy in our hearts, and having peace beyond understanding. All of that went away when I was perceived as old enough to attend adult church.

Looking back, I would have been satisfied staying in Children's Church if I knew what was awaiting in the other one.

Anyway, I did it. I took away the drudge, fear, and threats, that were in the various Bibles that I used, when transforming those verses into affirmations.

And now the verses are worth reading. They are kind, they are loving, they paint a picture of God as Love.

They provide a way to get to know God in a new way, a more personal way, and a more loving way.

May you be blessed with knowing God as being kind and loving. Read more kind and loving thoughts about God in Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

On a lighter note, curiosity about God

My curiosity about God started at a young age. My parents went away for about a week and my sister and I stayed with an aunt and uncle that lived in the area.

That particular aunt and uncle were very religious and we had to gather around and do nightly prayers as a group. All of us kids were gathered around on the floor, with our heads bowed, as my uncle stood and prayed to God.

At one point, my uncle said, "And may God look down upon us."

Well curious minds want to know, right. So right after he said those words, I looked up to see if God was looking down on us, and also to see what God looked like.

Up on the top of their tall bookshelf was their cat looking down on us. If you know me, then you know that I love cats! I almost laughed out loud as I wondered - Is God a cat!

Luckily I held back my laughter; I don't think my uncle would have approved! I don't recall anything else he said that night. I would like to think though that I must have also thought, that at least God has a since of humor, and must also love cats. But that is more of my adult mind thoughts; back then I was just enthralled and happy to see their cat as God.

If it's Saturday when you're reading this, then happy Saturday Caturday to you!

Hope you enjoyed getting to know more about me. Feel free to make a positive statement about yourself below. The affirmations in Proverbs as Affirmations were made to help in living a lighter life. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

Proverbs as Affirmations Portable Book

If you are wanting a more portable version of Proverbs as Affirmations, it is now available.

This book still has the same spiritual affirmations, but without the lines. You are still welcome to write the affirmations for your own personal use, to help in reinforcing them; you will just need a separate journal type book if you choose to write them.

If you want the option with lines already as part of the book, the 8-1/2 by 11 inch version is also available.

Both versions of Proverbs as Affirmations are ready for purchase on Amazon. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

Proverbs As Affirmations Two New Book Ideas

I have two ideas for creating new versions of Proverbs As Affirmations.

Idea 1:

The first one, that I've already started, is to have a smaller book, which will be 6 by 9 inches, that people can more easily carry with them. It can also be used for groups, making it easier to read from, and not used as a journal. There will be no lines. I can see it being used by individuals who just want the text, and also in new thought churches and groups that are wanting to easily follow along with other readers.

Update: I completed this book and it is now posted below.

Idea 2:

For my other idea, I thought about including a section in the back of the book that has categories. For instance, there would be a chapter for Eating. It would include all the affirmations throughout the original Proverbs As Affirmations that are about eating. Another chapter category would be Relationships; it would include all the affirmations throughout that are about relationships, etc.

This book would not include lines, to keep it a reasonable size.

I have found it helpful to use affirmations that are more related, together, rather than spread out, as they are in the original book. Would this be helpful to you?

Would you like to have lines to copy those affirmations for added reinforcement? Throughtout the whole book, or just in the category section? If so, it would probably be in the 8-1/2 by 11 inch size.

I welcome your input, so that I can make the best book(s) that like.

Please comment below. Order your own copy of the current Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

We are creators

I had said in my previous post that Proverbs as Affirmations wasn't an end all book for me, but that it gave me permission to start using affirmations again. It turned out to be a transition book. It gave me a way to grow my relationship with God, the Universe. Using these affirmations have led me to other books, people, and more of my own intuitive thoughts to help strengthen my path.

By having affirmations that were biblically based, Proverbs as Affirmations, gave me a way to fine tune my own personal affirmations to better enhance my life. It helped to erase doubt and build belief.

That is why lines are provided after each affirmation. You can write the affirmations as they are written in the book, or you can fine tune any of them to for your own individual desires. I.e., not everyone wants to get married, or become parents. You do have choice.

Everyone is already creating with God, through every thought that we think. We are already praying without ceasing, without being aware.

So lets cultivate good thoughts, which in turn, can help us to create the lives that we like.

God is not out there some place wanting us to beg and plead. That is what I was raised to believe. I have come to find out that the kingdom of God is within each and every one of us. We are already connected to God.

As the Bible says, we are created in God's image, and ye all are Gods. Therefore, we are creators. We are co-creating with God all the time.

Repetition is helpful. I have read this book numerous times, and each time, my spiritual learning has been enhanced.

May you be blessed with creating more of the life that you would like to have. Find guidance of integrity in Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

Give yourself permission to create

When I first started the process of transforming the verses of Proverbs into affirmations, I had wanted it to be an end all book. One that I could read and use and have everything fall perfectly into place.

As it turned out, it wasn't that kind of book at all; at least not for me. It turned out to be a book that gave me permission to use affirmations again, and with God's blessings.

There are many character building tips to use along the way: to be kinder, to bless, to believe in possibilities, and to know that the good that I sought was all okay with God. And that was important to me.

That had been my search, to do what was in line with what God wanted me to do. And with this book, that is what I found.

May your search and learning be easier than mine. Read more thoughts of transformation in Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

A Kind Word Proverbs

There are various verses in Proverbs that refer to kind words.

Proverbs 15:4 - A wholesome tongue is a tree of life.

Proverbs 16:24 - Pleasant words are like honeycomb; sweet to the soul and marrow to the bones.

Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

The general gist is kindness with one's words. I did not include the whole verse for Proverbs 15:4, as the remainder of that verse was not very kind.

But I have used the verses of Proverbs to inspire more words of kindness, by translating the majority of verses of Proverbs into kind words of affirmations.

It is easier to learn when one learns in peace and not fear of something. Proverbs as Affirmations provides that scenario. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

Do you struggle with reading Bible verses

Do you struggle with reading Bible verses?. You are not alone. Many people have and do.

There are many authors who have written about where to find help in the Bible about a specific type of situation. They mostly say to trust in God, which isn't bad in and of itself.

But a lot of people struggle with actual verses themselves, with good reason. Many Bible verses have come across as condescending, with hints and sometimes dire threats of what could happen if the person didn't do things in just the right way.

I'm here to say it can be different. You don't have to feel threatened in order to do things right. In fact, that is not a congenial or loving way to learn.

You can learn to trust and believe in God, Spirit, and learn to live a more fulfilling life; one that is built on integrity, love, honor, and respect.

In Proverbs as Affirmations: An Affirmation Journal for Self Transformation, you will find verses that are built on positive outcomes, verses that have been built into beneficial affirmations, without the talking down to and or threatening language.

You are worth experiencing a better feeling life, and to experience God, Spirit, in a better feeling way.

You can also tailor these affirmations to fit your own individual needs and desires. For instance, you may not want to have a spouse or even a partner. You can tailor those affirmations into statements about family and or friends.

Blank lines are provided after the affirmations where you can tailor them as you see fit, and or you can write them as they are to better reinforce the affirmations info your own life.

Enough lines are provided that you can do this multiple times. You can write the affirmations one month, and go back next month, and write each one again. You can work your way through doing a chapter a day.

Repetition helps in building beliefs. That is how your original beliefs got their start. The good news is that old beliefs can be transformed into new beliefs. They can be overcome. You will find tips in the beginning of Proverbs as Affirmations: An Affirmation Journal for Self Transformation, that I have used myself in transforming some of my own beliefs.

May you be blessed with reading affirmations that are helpful to you. Read positive affirmations in Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Taking new action

As you read, write, and learn these affirmations, you may be inspired to take new action. Perhaps you'll be inspired to listen to a meditation, go for a walk, say a prayer, give thanks, make amends of some sort, give a gift, give a compliment, etc. The list can include any number of new ways of acting and or being.

You also may just sit quietly and take time to let the affirmations sink in more. For some affirmations, you might need to take some time to wrap your head around them. I have found that if I find any resistance at all when I first read any of the affirmations, to simply repeat it, and maybe repeat it a couple of more times. I find that helpful as I continue to adjust my thinking.

Remember that affirmations are based on desires and not necessarily what you are currently experiencing. So some affirmations can take more time to make them part of your being and your beliefs.

Take your time, be gentle with yourself. Go smile at yourself in front of a mirror and pay yourself a compliment, i.e. "You're doing a good job. Good going. I love you."

As we change the thoughts in our mind and the way we think, new ideas can come forth. Divine Spirit works in wondrous ways.

Proverbs as Affirmations: An Affirmation Journal for Self Transformation

Proverbs as Affirmations: An Affirmation Journal for Self Transformation, is now published.

There is a verse in the biblical version of Proverbs 25 that basically says, by taking the impurities out of sliver, the artist creates a thing of beauty.

It has been my endeavor to remove the not feel good statements from the original verses so that all of God's children can more easily comprehend their meaning, and feel love, rather than fear.

May you be blessed by the reading of and applying these translations in your own life.

These new verses, the affirmations, are followed by blank lines for you to be able to write down the affirmations for added reinforcement, and or you can use these lines to tailor the words to be more fitting for your circumstances.

This final version is written a bit differently than my original writings. I made the verses shorter so that they are easier to remember. Therefore there can be more verses in a chapter than what was originally written. I left off verse numbers since they no longer correspond to that specific original biblical verse by number.

Some of the earlier verses were more repetitive. I expanded on some of these to give them more meaning. For instance, some verses referred to having a good marriage, but they didn't say how. One example that I wrote is: My spouse and I create happy, enjoyable experiences together.

If you and your spouse or partner already create happy, enjoyable experiences together, you might want to modify the verse to say something else that you want to have in your marriage.

This book is for you, to help you on your path in creating more pleasantness in your life, to have more good things happen in in your life, to bring more insights into your life, and to have more contentment.

You may choose to read this book straight through to get a general feel for it. Then you may go back and read it again, this time taking it more slowly; taking time to write, recite, and or record, the affirmations that are more pertinent to you and your desired self transformation.

Other tips and ideas are printed at the beginning of the book, along with some of the backstory as to how Proverbs as Affirmations came about.

Without further ado, you can purchase your own copy of Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Pray for Your Children

Chapter 31 is one of my favorite chapters. It features a prayer to say for your child/children.

The first verse is the opening for the prayer:

I am thankful that I am connected to God, and that these are the sincere words of me as a parent.

You are my dear child, the answer to my prayers.

What shall I tell you?

Let these words be your own if you so choose, and that they be good for all concerns.

I am thankful that I use my energy for the true desires of my heart.

I give that which I also wish to receive.

I keep my words pure.

I foster love in my heart.

And it goes on, with many words of wisdom on how to be and live righteously, followed by rewards for right living.

Here is the whole prayer printed on posters. It is a lovely gift for yourself and or other parents and new parents. A blank line is provided to write in a child's name for a personalized gift.

Proverbs as Affirmations: With God

Writing these Proverbs into Affirmations has been a new way for me. A new way to think about God. And a new way of achieving being a better person on a more regular basis. Chapter 30 starts off with this very idea.

I am thankful that these words are of a new way.

God is with me. God is with me. With God, I have help.

It is true. I have seen God in a new way. With God, I have help.

God is a shield unto me. I put my trust in God.

God keeps me good.

God keeps contentment in my heart.

God keeps me appreciating the wise.

God keeps ease of forgiveness in my heart.

I enjoy being connected to God.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Correcting Children

I am up to Chapter 29 in my reading of Proverbs as Affirmations. My self talk has greatly improved, and I am taking more positive action.

More information is given about leaders.

I am glad that with righteous leaders, the people rejoice.

We now elect righteous leaders.

When a leader is concerned with justice, the nation is strong.

We now elect leaders that are concerned with justice.

I am learning to be more accepting. I grew up being taught that it was better to give than to receive. But someone has to receive in order for the giver to be able to give.

God gives to all of God's children, including me.

I found the next affirmation helpful.

I use kind correction and guidance, which is good for children.

When I brought something to the attention of my daughter, I remember thinking - it can be kind and she can learn. The action that I then took and the outcome were both pleasant. When I took the time to apply what I am learning in these chapters, things are turning out for the better.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Leaders

I found it interesting that an early affirmation in Chapter 28 mentions bravery.

I like that righteous people are brave.

One might think that if one is connected to God, and simply obeys God to do what is right, then why would this person need to be brave. It is because, the things that may be right thing to do, isn't necessarily in that person's comfort zone. When I first started expanding my acts of kindness, it took a certain amount of bravery, on my part, to be kind outside of my comfort zone.

More interesting things about this chapter are the verses about leadership. Not necessarily individually, but national leaders.

A nation is strong and endures when it is led by leaders of understanding.

I elect leaders of understanding.

Wouldn't it be great to have leaders of understanding in office, no matter what country you live in. I invite you to join me in affirming the affirmations about leaders.

I rejoice that we have leaders who have understanding.

Leaders who love honesty, and are content with their own, prolong their days.

I enjoy when the righteous are in power, the goodness increases.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Contentment

In Chapter 27, we learn some basic ideas for fostering contentment.

I am thankful that I am connected to God.

I am content with today.

We have been instructed in previous chapters to give praise. In this chapter, we learn that it's okay to accept also praise.

I let other people praise me, even strangers.

I accept praise kindly.

I find that when I foster contentment in my own heart, then more things to be contented about, shows up.

Overall, I found this chapter to be a pleasant read that reinforced a lot of what was said in previous chapters, as well as a few new tips on living.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Repetition

In Chapter 26, the way we speak is mentioned again:

I enjoy giving praise for what is good.

I take time to think of a good answer.

I can say that I am becoming more aware. I do tend to give more compliments now than what I used to do.

I recall having learnings from this next affirmation, from a previous time that I read this chapter.

I am wise and understand parables.

If you have read any of my previous posts, you may remember that I started reading the New Testament with much more interest, and had new insights from them. I read them with new eyes, so to speak.

Anyway, the thing about parables, is that is what Jesus used to convey a certain meaning, learning, etc., through parables.

Since our speech is suppose to be pure and kind, and we are to pronounce the innocent, innocent; then we are probably meant to keep our speech good about whomever we are talking about. Hmmm. Care to chime in on this. I say that with a bit of humor at this point in time. It is something I am working on.

Another interesting thing that I am thinking of right now, is that Jesus never took credit for anything. He said things like - My Father did ..., or Your faith has healed you.

It was all about one's mindset, belief, and listening to that inner heavenly guidance. We have been told in other books in the Bible, that the kingdom of God is within.

So breathe a sigh of relief, if you can; we do get lots of repetitions and reinforcement in this affirmation book, on how to be. If there are old beliefs that seem to dictate what shows up in your life, they got there by repetion and adopted belief. Trhough repetition and new adopted beliefs, the old ones can be transformed into new ones.

May you be blessed with repeating more good thoughts. Read more good thoughts in Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Neighbors and Enemies

In writing yesterday's post, I had an epiphany of sorts. I shared my ponderings about God, and came to the realization, that the God that is Spirit, is the God that rings true for me. I still believe in God, and I still believe in this project. This morning, I felt more empowered to continue on with it.

And now onward, with Chapter 25.

Chapter 25 of the Bible Proverbs has one of my favorite verses, which was pretty consistent in the different Bibles: A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

I didn't want to use any verse word for word, so below is the affirmation that I wrote in its place.

I speak kindly and wisely; it is like a picture of beauty.

Correction given by an experienced person to an obedient listener is valuable.

I speak correction in kind ways.

Neighbors are mentioned in this chapter as well.

I only visit my neighbors now and then, keeping my welcome fresh.

Building trust in yourself to choose the kind action is only part of it. We are also encouraged to see these traits in others.

I depend on those that are reliable.

I am at peace in myself.

Chapter 25 also tells us what to do when we don't feel like we are in the company of reliable people.

If another is hungry, I feed them.

If another is thirsty, I give them water to drink.

I changed the word enemy (that was in the Bible) to another, to help think of others in a better light and to not already give anyone a label.

Proverbs as Affirmations: My Ponderings about God

Today I have been wondering about God. God can be different things to different people. In the Bible, God is said to be Spirit. So is this Spirit, the substance in which we all live and breathe. Do the vibes that we are feeling affect how God, Spirit, responds to us.

Also, in the Bible, God is referred to as our Father. With that connotation, people expect God to communicate with us as his children.

Which is it, or is it both, or something else?

One of my biggest arguments that I had with God, was when my then concept of what I thought God was, was shattered. I had had a relationship with God, the father figure one. I had prayed to God on a pretty much regular basis. Back in the 70's, I prayed practically every night for God to make the Vietnam war end. I wondered why it wasn't happening. Didn't God hear my prayers?

There were things from my youth that I needed to get over. One of the ways I did that was to listen to a guided imagery tape, and imagine things that I liked and felt good about. I was having fun with it; it was an exercise in relaxing and playing with my imagination.

Low and behold, some of my imaginings started coming true. I was floored and surprised. Those things that I had spent time with in my imagination were coming true. I hadn't prayed for those things to come true, but they did, nonetheless. Why did those things come true when the many things I had prayed about hadn't.

I gave God, of my understanding at the time, a big piece of my mind; and my relationship with God was forever changed.

Nevertheless, I started learning about affirmations, and focusing my mind. I know that those things work, when I work them and stay on track. And I now see God as a Universal Spirit, that responds to us all, but perhaps not in the way that we may think or have been accustomed to.

Since I had, had such a strong relationship with the previous God of my understanding, that longing took awhile to move on from. I re-wrote the book of Proverbs into affirmations, as part of my own spiritual journey. I still wanted to do what God wanted me to do.

I found out, that according to my rewrite of Proverbs into affirmations, that God pretty much wants for me, what I want for me. A good life, good feelings, being kind, being successful, etc. But then, it also says to be reverent of God, to honor God. This part took awhile to learn. I had to figure out who God was.

What I have come to learn is that God, Spirit, is a part of each one of us, that always hears everything we tell it, because that Spirit is inside of us and around us. What we constantly tell ourselves, is what we see in our outer world. The kingdom of God is within.

I wanted to share my learnings with you, so that you can learn from them too, and perhaps have an easier transition.

As for Chapter 24, I am quite impressed with the following affirmation.

I think good thoughts.

I think this is most important, to think good thoughts, and be kind to one another, no matter what one's concept of God is.

May you be blessed with more and more good thoughts. Read more good thoughts in Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Life Tips

Chapter 23 is a bit lighter, though I am sure it depends on where you are coming from.

It starts out with thoughts on eating.

When I sit to eat, I consider what is before me and I give thanks to God.

I only eat what is sufficient for me.

I eat what is good for me.

Attitude is important too.

I enjoy eating with those whose words are kind and their hearts also.

The relationship with God is ongoing.

When my heart is wise, God's heart rejoices.

How to think of your children is mentioned.

I am happy with my children.

Being sober is reinforced.

I stay on the sober path. My thinking stays clear.

Proverbs as Affirmations: Cleansing

Today I found myself using a form of an affirmation that I had read yesterday, the one about - God ponders our hearts and cleanses them.

I had felt different old emotions and beliefs come up and I was able to mentally say to each one - God cleanses that. Each time I did, that particular one cleared up. Another followed shortly behind, and I just repeated that statement, and it cleared up too, and the next, and so on. It seems like I was on a roll. But I wanted to get back to being at peace, peace with myself and peace with God.

I also repeated to myself - I honor God. Before these affirmations, I was busy trying to please myself and others, not that, that isn't good to do sometimes. But I'm glad that I am focusing now on my main relationship being with God.

So, on with some of what Chapter 22 is about.

It is about broadening ones scope.

All people meet together; God is the maker of us all.

I teach children how to live, and they remember it all of their lives.

The wise are my friends.

When I think about these verses, I am reminded to stop and think. There is a bigger picture, and did I help to create the one that I currently see, and how do I create the picture I'd rather see?

May you be blessed as well in your cleansing and refocusing. Read more cleansing affirmations in Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.
