Proverbs as Affirmations: Respect

I am continuing to grow and transform. Today felt more gradual than previous days. I guess since I've been doing this steady for a week now.

One affirmation in Chapter 7 really got my attention when I read it this morning.

I respect my spouse and my spouse respects me.

I've read verses about love and commitment before, but not respect. When I read respect, it did not ring true for me. As the morning went on I began to question myself - What is respect? So I gave it some thought; respect to me is honesty, integrity, kindness. There might have been some more. So then I began affirming those qualities of respect about my spouse. Yes, I needed to see my spouse in a new light. Reading that verse helped to give me insight. It's kind of amazing how it all works.

Saying something as so doesn't necessarily make it so. Sometimes there may be work involved to help make it so.

Part of this path is learning and practicing a new way to talk, as well as a new way of thinkingk, and also following through with new action(s). Sometimes it feels more like work than simple acceptance. Then I work on having a more positive feeling, or just letting something be for awhile, whatever seems to work best for me at the time.

Respect can begin with respecting ones own self and your own words. Find out more in Proverbs as Affirmations. The highlighted text links below the picture will take you to Amazon.

There is a journal version (8-1/2 by 11 inches, pictured on the right), which includes lines to write the affirmations for added reinforcement, or the portable smaller version (6 by 9 inches, pictured on the left), without lines, which is easier to carry.

Much blessings to you on your journey.
